Houston-based Apache Corp. is exiting Argentina, agreeing to sell all of its assets there to state-controlled YPF for $800 million in cash. YPF will also assume $52 million in debt. For Apache, the deal marks a further step in a strategic shift towards concentrating on its core North American properties. For YPF, it will consolidate the company's leading position in Argentina's promising Vaca Muerta shale play.
