Competition Heats Up in Singapore's LNG Import Game

Competition is heating up in the race to become the next LNG importer for Singapore, following a heads of agreement for LNG supplies signed between local gas importer and distributor Keppel Gas and Malaysian state Petronas earlier this week (IOD Nov.6'14). The HoA, conditional on Keppel Gas winning an import license from regulator Energy Market Authority (EMA), envisages buying up to 1 million tons per year of LNG from Petronas' global portfolio.
