Gas production from Iran's giant South Pars field will double by 2015, said Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Ghasemi said Wednesday, according to Iranian media reports. Ghasemi made his comments during an inauguration ceremony for a gas processing plant for South Pars Phases 15 and 16 in Assaluyeh, which was also attended by outgoing Iranian President Mahmoud Amedinejad in his last official presidential trip (IOD Jul.30'13). Critics called the inauguration ceremony an attempt to strengthen the president's record before he leaves office on Aug. 4.
