Iran has boosted output from the giant South Pars field it shares with Qatar by 20 million cubic meters per day to 630 MMcm/d, surpassing that of its southern Mideast Gulf neighbor. The latest output ramp-up follows the installation of two new platforms at Phases 14 and 23 of the field. Additional production from a new rig at Phase 24 is due to start in the next two weeks, the head of Pars Oil & Gas Co., a subsidiary of state-run National Iranian Oil Co., Mohammad Meshkin Fam, told Iran's Press TV website.
