Sudan has brought on a new oil field that is set to boost capacity by 10,000 barrels per day, according to state media reports. Sudan struggled to produce around 115,000 b/d during 2012. Its capacity was slashed by the loss of around 320,000 b/d of production through the secession of South Sudan in July 2011. Performance last year was also marred by new damage to oil fields and facilities in the main Heglig production area in South Kordofan due to cross-border fighting with the south, whose production remains shut-in (IOD Nov.23'12).
