Libya Outages Hold Back Wintershall Profits

An eight-month shutdown of war-torn Libya’s upstream last year unsurprisingly hammered BASF oil and gas subsidiary Wintershall’s 2011 production volumes. Due to Libya outages, crude oil and liquids production fell by 43% last year to 68,500 barrels per day, Wintershall said, while natural gas production declined a mere 1% to 241,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day, thanks largely to volumes from Russia.
