The Japanese government approved late on Wednesday a restructuring plan for Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Tepco), which effectively nationalizes the company in the short term with the government to own more than 50% of voting rights after injecting 1 trillion yen ($12.5 billion) in it. The government also has the option to increase its ownership to two-thirds of the company's share if Tepco fails to meet its restructuring targets.
