Oman Pushes Forward With More Refining Projects

State Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co. (Orpic) is moving forward with plans to expand its 116,000 barrel per day Sohar refinery by more than 50%, Chief Executive Musab al-Mahrouqi said this week. The company plans to announce a short list of contractors for the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the project within two to four weeks, al-Mahrouqi said in remarks published by local media. The expansion project is slated for completion in 2016 and will cost between $1.5 billion and $1.8 billion, he said.
