Sterling Has North Sea Duster

UK-listed Valiant Petroleum said Thursday that Canada- based Sterling Resources has plugged and abandoned the Cladhan South exploration well in the UK North Sea after it failed to encounter oil or gas. The well -- located on Block 210/29c -- encountered multiple Upper Jurassic sand channels but none were thought to be hydrocarbon-bearing, the company said in a statement.
