The Norwegian Petroleum Directorateconfirmed on Friday that GDF Suez’s firstexploration well in PL 530 in the BarentsSea — the keenly awaited Heilo wildcat —has come up dry (IOD Oct.7’11). It saidthe 7124/4-1 S well, spudded about 70km northeast of the Goliat field, has nowbeen plugged and abandoned. The licensewas awarded in the 20th licensing roundon the Norwegian shelf in 2009. OperatorGDF Suez has 30%, Rocksource, Front Ex-ploration and North Energy 20% each,and Repsol 10%.
