Violence has erupted in Sudan's disputed Abyei region in the wake of elections in the neighboring northern oil state of South Kordofan. The northern ruling National Congress Party and the southern Sudan People's Liberation Movement accuse each other of arming militias and fueling the violence in the contested border areas.
