摘要

International carbon trade totaled $71 bil- lion — or 3.6 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent — in the first half of this year, up from $66 billion a year earlier, the Interna- tional Emissions Trading Association (IETA) said on Wednesday in its annual Greenhouse Gas Market report in Singapore. This year's report focused on the Asia- Pacific region, where Australia, China and India are among the countries pushing ahead with carbon abatement schemes. IETA said Australia now looks set to launch an emissions trading program after failing to get it through parliament three times, while New Zealand's system, operating since 2008, has undergone a review that shows signs of cutting emissions and stim- ulating clean energy investment.
