Indonesia Pledges Japan LNG

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has pledged to continue supplying Japan with LNG above and beyond its long-term commitments in a bid to help the country cope with power shortages arising from the Fukushima nuclear disaster. "Japan helped us when Indonesia suffered tsunami damage, so now it is our turn to offer support," Yudhoyono told Japanese newspaper Nikkei during a visit to Japan this week. Indonesia has already committed to send just over 1 million tons of LNG to Tokyo Electric Power Co. and Tohoku Electric this year on top of long-term deliveries (IOD Apr.21'11).
