Rialto Gets Gazelle Approval

Australia-listed Rialto Energy said Friday it has received government approval for the development of its Gazelle field in license area CI- 202 offshore the coast of Cote d’Ivoire. The authorization of the plan means that development will now be fast-tracked, with first oil earmarked for the final quarter of 2013. Production from the field, which Rialto says contains contingent resources of 50 million bbl of liquids and 396 Bcf of gas and a further 511 million bbl of prospective resources, will start at around 8,000 boe/d. The pipelines linking the field to onshore infrastructure, however, will be capable of moving about 40,000 boe/d. This will allow for further infill drilling at Gazelle and the possibility of tying back existing satellite fields.
