Vietnam in Offshore Loan First

Petrovietnam Exploration Production (PVEV), the upstream arm of state Petro- vietnam, has closed its first offshore syn- dicated loan, raising $430 million. It said the five-year loan will be used for general corporate purposes and capital spending. Standard Chartered Bank was arranger and bookrunner for the loan, which was 43% oversubscribed by 14 institutions ranging from Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Malaysia's Maybank to Bank of Tai- wan and BNP Paribas.
