Russian Oil Output Inches up as Gas Production Leaps in May

Russian oil and gas production both increased year-on-year in May, although the rise in oil output -of just 1.2% to 10.258 million barrels per day -was overshadowed by the 12.3% jump in gas production to 57.526 billion cubic meters as European demand grew. The preliminary energy ministry data show the May total for oil output almost unchanged on April, while the fivemonth average of 10.227 million b/d was 1.6% up on year-earlier levels.
