Swedish independent Lundin Petroleum said Monday that it has spudded explo- ration well 24/9-10S in its Caterpillar prospect in license PL340BS in the Norwe- gian North Sea. Caterpillar is 6 km east of the Marihone discovery and the well will target Hermod Formation sandstones in th same reservoir trend as Marihone. Caterpil lar is estimated to hold gross unrisked prospective oil resources of 11 million bbl and will potentially be developed as a satel lite to Marihone, which is 27 km south of the Alvheim field facilities. The planned to tal depth is 2,165 meters below sea level. The well will be drilled with the Transocea Winner rig and take about 50 days.
