China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has approved the overall devel- opment plan for the Weizhou fields in Block 22/12 in the Gulf of Tonkin offshore China, partner Roc Oil said Monday (IOD Aug.26,p6). This paves the way for a final investment decision, expected by the end of next month, after which an estimated 24 million bbl of gross proved and probable reserves will be booked. The plan will now be submitted to the government for ap- proval, but Roc said early development preparation is already under way, including preliminary engineering design work and long-lead item bidding.
