The Senate's Democratic leadership is taking a critical look at bipartisan legislation recently presented in the US Senate that seeks to promote increased domestic production of critical minerals like lithium. The legislation -sponsored by Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski and co-sponsored by several Democrats including Missouri's Claire McCaskill, Virginia's Jim Webb and Mark Begich of Alaska -would authorize the US Geological Survey to draw up a list of critical minerals, and offer federal loan guarantees for new production.
