Te Giac Trang oil field is now producing over 28,000 b/d after starting up last month, UK-listed Soco International said Wednesday (IOD Aug.23'11). Once output from the field, in Block 16/1 of the Cuu Long Basin, ramps up to about 40,000 b/d there will be extensive testing of well capabilities and the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. Plateau production is projected at 55,000 b/d, but plans call for output to be increased beyond that to test the total processing capacity of the FPSO by the end of the year. The block is operated by Hoang Long Joint Operating Co., grouping Soco, state Petrovietnam, Thailand's state PTTEP and Opeco Vietnam.
