BP Reduces Estimates of Oil Flow From US Gulf Spill

BP reported on Friday that the flow of leaking oil through the tube it inserted in- to the damaged riser at its Deepwater Hori- zon rig in the Gulf of Mexico is down by more than half. The tube is now collecting about 2,200 barrels per day, down from an initial flow of as much as 5,000 b/d after an Apr. 20 explosion on the rig caused a major oil leak off Louisiana’s coast.
