BP at Crossroads One Year After Disaster

On the first anniversary of its catastrophic Macondo blowout and oil spill in the US Gulf of Mexico, BP finds itself at a crossroads. Following Macondo and the fatal Texas City refinery blast in 2005, there is widespread talk internally, Energy Intelligence understands, that the company lies just one more serious accident away from disintegration, given that another incident on such a scale would surely trigger a terminal collapse of confidence in BP across governments, investors and, most importantly, credit markets.
