Global wind electricity generation capaci- ty should hit 409 GW by 2014, according to the latest annual prediction from the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). It forecasts a 160% increase in worldwide wind genera- tion capacity over the next five years, with most installations going up in the US wind corridor and in China. Right now, there is roughly 158.5 GW of installed wind capacity worldwide. GWEC projects growth of 21% annually over the next five years, down on the 29% annual growth rate experienced over the past decade.
