Mercury Shuts Oz Longtom

Australia’s Nexus Energy on Wednesday said more mercury has been detected in natural gas from its Longtom offshore pro- ject and that production will remain shut in. Nexus halted output in late April after the onshore customer for Longtom, San- tos Energy, detected low levels of mercury in the gas being processed at Santos’s Pa- tricia-Baleen facility. Nexus had said last month that test samples from the Long- tom-4 well detected mercury, and on Wednesday said mercury was also detect- ed in Longtom-3.
