UK Set to Overtake France as Europe's No. 2 LNG Importer

After keeping LNG imports more or less flat in 2009, France looks set this year to be overtaken by the UK as Europe's second- biggest LNG importer after Spain. The switch, however, has more to do with the changing import habits of the UK - which is now taking Qatari flows into its new import terminals - than because of any loss of French appetite for LNG. Indeed, French regasification capacity is set to expand over the next couple of years, and LNG will continue to play a key role in France's energy mix.
