Pakistan and Iran have signed two agreements underpinning a gas sale and purchase agreement for an Iran-Pakistan pipeline. One, a heads of agreement, covers the possibility of transit fees payable to Pakistan should India decide to join the project at a later stage. An operational agreement was also signed. The Pakistani government must now issue a guarantee to make the agreement effective, the ministry of petroleum and natural resources said.
