Crude Oil Prices Could be Vulnerable if Global Currency War Erupted

Finance ministers and central bank gover- nors from the Group of Twenty (G20) coun- tries meeting in Gyeongju, Korea recently pledged to avoid “competitive devaluation,” but failed to agree upon mechanisms to quell the current currency war. If G20 leaders also fail when they meet in Seoul on Nov. 11-12, the currency war could escalate into a trade war, with important im- plications for crude oil prices.
