European Automakers Seek Ban on Metallic Gasoline Additive

Automakers are to lobby European refiners to outlaw metallic additives within gasoline that increase emissions. Members of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) are hoping for an effective ban on the manganese-based metallic additive MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl). This can be used to boost the octane value of poor quality gasoline.
