The volume of Iraq’s crude oil exports rose very sharply in December, bounding to 91.2 million barrels, but it has fallen back severely since then. According to the latest figures released by the Oil Ministry on the basis of data provided by the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), exports sank to 78.6 million barrels in January and 72.72 million barrels in February (this last figure remains provisional). In value terms, Iraqi crude exports slumped from $5,161 million in December to $3,258 million in January, before edging up to an estimated $3,449 million in February.
