State Budget for 2015 and 2016, Based on an Oil Price of $60/B, Projects a Total Deficit of $8 Billion

The two-year government budget for 2015 and 2016, which was promulgated by the King on 13 July, forecasts total receipts at BD 4.27 billion ($11.3 billion) – BD 2.1 billion in 2015 and BD 2.17 billion in 2016. With total expenditure estimated at BD 7,284 million – BD 3,601 million in 2015 and BD 3,682 million in 2016 – the budget projects annual deficits of BD 1.5 billion and BD 1.51 billion respectively, according to the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA). The development budget has been fixed at BD 910 million (BD 445 million in 2015 and BD 465 million in 2016). The deficit will be financed by borrowings from financial institutions and Arab and Islamic funds.
