Siemens Awarded Contracts Worth ?8 Million that Will Increase Egypt’s Power Generation Capacity by 50%

On the occasion of the visit to Germany of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, contracts worth ?8 billion were signed with Siemens AG, which described them as “the largest order in its history”. They are for the supply of gas-fired power stations and wind plants with a total capacity of 16,400 MW (16.4 GW), which will increase Egypt’s power generation capacity by 50%. The orders follow the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on the occasion of the Charm el-Cheikh summit in March (AOG, 16 March, 2015).
