Sabic Reports its Highest Ever Quarterly Net Earnings of 1.44 Billion for the Third Quarter of 2006

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation(Sabic)has reported net earnings of SR 5.4 billion(1.44 billion)for the third quarter of 2006,which represents a 19% increase relative to the second quarter and a 12% rise over the third quarter of 2005.Sabic points out that"these are the highest quarterly earnings since the company was founded."Through the first nine months of this year,however,Sabic's net earnings dipped by 3.5% to SR 14.2 billion from SR 14.7 billion in January-September 2005.Its operating earnings edged up from SR 24.7 billion to SR 24.8 billion from one period to the next,but its earnings per share declined from SR 5.87 to SR 5.67.
