Coal India exceeds December production target

State-controlled mining firm Coal India (CIL) produced52.07mn t of coal in December, exceeding its government-settarget of 51.08mn t. CIL, India’s dominant coal producer, missed its targetsfor seven straight months from May-November. Production inDecember was 5.07mn t higher than a year earlier.The firm’s output in April-December, the first ninemonths of India’s 2015-16 financial year, was 9.63mn t belowits target for the period at 373.45mn t.
