West coast coal export project moves forward

Millennium Bulk Terminals chief executive Bill Chapman said heis confident a draft environmental study issued today for a coalexport terminal in Washington state will “deliver a favorablereview.”Millennium's project is driven by the expectation that Asiandemand for western US coal will grow. The 3,000-page draftenvironmental impact statement (EIS) from the US Corps of Engineersdoes not include a review of greenhouse gas emissions(GHG) that would be created by burning the coal that wouldmove through the facility. The report only considered GHGscreated by the construction and operation of the terminal andassociated trains.
