CSX rail-delivered coal prices continued their upward momentumtoday, while most western coal prices were unchanged.There has been little to no activity in physical rail-deliveredCSX coal markets. But demand for the 12,500 Btu/lbcoal swaps continues to climb. Two trades for the Decemberfinancial contract cleared CME for $61.75/short ton today. Thephysical contract was assessed at $60.50/st, up 60? from theprevious day. The November contract rose 50? to $58.00/st onthe last day that it will be assessed as the prompt month. Andthe first and second quarter 2017 contracts rose 25? and 10?to $58.60/st and $56.85/st, respectively.
