CSX prompt year falls to lowest point since 2009

Prices for CSX rail-originated steam coal mostly fell today, with the calendar 2015 strip reaching the lowest prompt year price in nearly five years. Trade in the Appalachian rail market was thin. A financial deal for calendar year 2015 went for $55.50/short ton and the physical market was assessed at $55.60/st, down from $55.85/ st yesterday. The last time Argus marked the prompt year at that level or lower was on 13 November 2009.
