Colombia's first open-pit coking coal mine starts

Colombian diversif ed commodities trader Trenaco started operations at its own low-volatile coking coal mine this week, marking the beginning of production at the country's f rst open-pit coking coal mine. The privately held Swiss-Colombian company began production at its mine in Caparrapí in the central Andes mountain province of Cundinamarca yesterday. The mine is slated to produce at 20,000 metric tonnes/month by late July or August, mining director Juanita de la Vega told Argus today.
