Liquidity and volatility surged on the European spot market this week as sellers seized on an opportunity to take profits in a market at near six-month highs. A total of 2.2mn metric tonnes traded on the physical spot markets this week, making it the busiest week so far this year, with 1.38mn t destined for northeastern European ports. The bulk of European delivered market trade occurred yesterday, when 1.08mn t changed hands in 15 separate transactions.
