Eastern rails expect coal volumes to stay strong

Eastern railroads are confident that export coal volumes will remain strong throughout the year but expect much of that strength will come from coking coal. Officials for Norfolk Southern (NS) and CSX said at the Wolfe Research Transportation Conference in New York on 26 May that rail customers are leaning toward solid growth for the rest of the year.
