摘要

A micro near infrared spectroscopy (MicroNIRS) technique based on monolithic column enrichment for detection of low concentrations of copper in water was reported. The authors regret that new observations indicate a problem with the stability of the monolithic column, which has resulted in drawing conclusions that are in error. The procedures used for the experiments in the initial report were sequential, using synthetic samples that began with low copper concentrations and then moved to high concentrations. When the experiments were completed using samples where copper concentrations were randomized the results showed that the good correlation between spectra and concentration was lost, and the prediction errors of the PLS model were high. The poor quality of the results that were obtained for randomized copper concentrations is now attributed to the elution procedure.
