Proteomic profiling method not suitable for detecting prostate cancer

The use of SELDI TOFMS for early identification of cancers has been conLrover-sial. As a result of those and othet questions about diagnostic approaches, the National Cancer Institute Early Detection Research Network organized a validation study of serum proteomic profiling to diagnose prostate cancel. Two recent napers published by a collaboration involving 29 researchers at 10 institutions present the results from the second stage of the validation study.
