Bekaert expands steel tire cord plant

NV Bekaert SA is expanding a steel tire cord plant in Rogers, Ark., adding 25,000 tons of annual production capacity at the site, the company said.The upgrade will equip the plant to produce 75,000 tons per year, up from 50,000 tons per year currently, a spokeswoman for Belgium-based Bekaert told AMM via e-mail. Steel wire rod is a raw material for steel tire cord, and Bekaert is a major rod purchaser in North America.
