Imperial Metals Corp. has been cleared of any breach of mining legislation in last year's tailings dam collapse at its Mount Polley copper and gold mine in British Columbia, but still faces a hurdle on a separate environmental investigation. The British Columbia chief mines inspector, with advice from the Ministry of Justice, did not find sufficient evidence that Imperial Metals broke the law under the provincial Mines Act. The finding followed an investigation into the Mount Polley tailings breach, which occurred in August 2014 (amm.com, Aug. 5, 2014).
