The Argentine pesticide industry association, the Casafe, has called for increased inspections and higher penalties on incorrect use of pesticide products, Argentine news agency Telam reports. It makes the call in the face of a legislative agenda curbing the use of such products. The association seeks an agreement with regulators to “permit co-operation” on a pesticide law. Farmers who apply products wrongly are in the minority and should be published, Casafe chairman Juan Cruz Jaime told Telam. “When more restrictive regulations are imposed with stronger penalties for poor use, the levels of poor practice will diminish.”
