EFSA rejects Greek MON810 ban again

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has dismissed evidence put forward by Greece to justify an extension to its existing ban on Monsanto’s EU-approved genetically modified insect-resistant MON810 maize. The outcome is a repeat of the EFSA’s conclusion on a Greek notification submitted in 2011 (Agrow No 649, p 13). Greece submitted its latest extension in November 2013. The country has imposed a succession of twoyear bans on the import, planting and sale of the GM line since 2005.
