A Brazilian Senator has introduced a private members bill to the Senate to seek greater supply and registration of generic pesticides. The bill would "establish the generic pesticide" policy. Senator Heraclito Fortes' bill would result in greater competition among pesticide producers, he told the Senate late last month. The Senator of the centre-right Democrats party further defended his proposal by claiming it would lead to cheaper food. "The proposal would provide incentives to the national pesticide industry to compete with multinationals."
