Three's Company for L-Jay Autobody

This Alberta shop has come a long way since the days of their three-person staff more than 30 years ago. As the saying goes, "Three's a crowd." When you are trying to break into the automotive repair industry, however, three employees hardly seems like a crowd. This was exactly the case in the beginning for L-Jay Autobody in Nisku, Alberta. Ron Nicholson established the company in 1982. His close friends Ken and Laura Gareau operated a tow truck business and needed some extra yard space. In 1987, the Gareaus bought L-Jay Autobody, and Nicholson stayed on as a manager. Around the time of the purchase, Ken and Laura's son, Vince, entered into the business and became a journeyman technician.
