Long coal delays down, intermediate delays spike: STB filings

US coal carload delays of more than five days dropped across most of the four major railroads for the week ended May 15, though delays of two to five days were up, data filed with the Surface Transportation Board showed. Data in EP 724 filings showed coal delays of more than five days were down 27.3% week on week, with BNSF, CSX and Norfolk Southern showing declines. Long delays for Union Pacific were up slightly, with only a 3.8% increase to 81 carloads from 78 carloads.
