China’s import tariff on Australian thermal coal will be lowered to4% from 6% of the delivered CFR price of cargoes effective December 20and then to only 2% on January 1, 2016 before being eliminated altogethera year later, sources familiar with the matter said Thursday.The three-step reduction in the import tariff which Beijing erectedaround its thermal coal market in October 2014 ends marketuncertainty about the future of Australian thermal coal imports toChina, market sources said.
