Coal delays increase on major eastern,western US railroads: STB filings

Overall delays in coal shipments increased formajor US railroads in both the east and west, reports filedwith the Surface Transportation Board show.Data in STB’s EP 724 filings, released Thursday for theweek that ended September 4, show long delays of five ormore days for all four major US railroads rose 18.9%, or195, week on week, to 1,229 coal carloads, and intermediatedelays of two to five days increased 38.1%, or 1,973, to7,148 coal carloads.
